How we make our school even better

At our school all the staff, children and parents work together to try and make our school the best it can possibly be.

They do this in lots of ways:

Residential trips

In class 3 we go away for 3 nights to either Liverpool, The Lake District or Scotland. In our city visit we get to experience an environment completely different from our own. In the Lake District we can appreciate our local environment and the adventurous ways we can use it while in Scotland we are visiting our neighbouring country and learning about their heritage and culture.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome in our school and we enjoy regular visits from Rev. Phillips our vicar who leads us in collective worship and helps organise family services at church. Our curriculum is enhanced by our visitors whether that is a gardener during our scented garden topic, Zoolab during our dinosaur topic or our regular visits from a local historian, Max, sharing his wealth of historical knowledge.

We also, when permitted, go on visits to support our topics using our local areas, such as,  Tullie House, the Cumbria C2C footpath, Hadrian's Wall, Rose Castle, The Lake District Wildlife Park, Whinlatter Mountain Forest, Carlisle Cathedral and Castle.

Challenges

We like to be challenged and we are encouraged to take part in a number of challenges organised by local and national initiatives. Recently, we have taken part in the 100 Mile Challenge where every child has been encouraged to walk, run, jog or cycle 100 miles. We take part in the local library reading challenge, spelling competitions and design challenges - Ollie had his very own Christmas card design published! Currently, we are taking part in Bright Stars where we have been challenged to turn £50 into much m ore money through creating our own business.
